Frequently Asked Questions

Q1 - Why a .... manifesto?  What's this book about anyway?
A1 - A manifesto is defined as "a public declaration of intent on the part of the issuer."  So, if you (for example) were to create a wealth manifesto, this would essentially be a public declaration of your intention to become wealthy.  If you are familiar at all with the power of intention and how to begin the process of manifesting, there are three stages 1) THINK 2) SAY 3) ACT.  This book teaches you all three.

Q2 - Isn't a manifesto usually associated with deranged people?
A2 -  No.  It's actually becoming quite a popular concept in books these days.  Right now on amazon.com there's In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto by Michael Pollan (that one's a bestseller).  Then there is The Revolution: A Manifesto by Ron Paul (the guy running for president).  If you are thinking about the unibomber or something like that, Teddy K doesn't get to own the word.  Hitler had a Mercedes that he was driven around in.  My friend Al has a Mercedes too.  Does that mean I should stay away from Al's Mercedes because Hitler had one too?  Nonsense!

Q3 - I thought wealth was about money and assets, you know ... stuff; why do you think differently?
A3 - The word wealth was hijacked a few centuries ago to somehow largely be associated with money.  It comes from an old English word weal that meant wellbeing ... it was not supposed to be confined to an association with money.  I use it in a multidimensional sense ... having to do with all aspects of your life.

Q4 - Why the fixation on Quality?
A4 - In part because of the association with Quality of Life .. obviously something just about anyone is looking for.  Quality is how we experience value, and our system of values is how we make decisions about what is important to us, specifically within the various dimensions of our wellbeing.  Specifically, Quality is how we realize wealth in a particular area of our lives.  I could talk about Quality for hours.  Read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig and you'll know where I'm coming from on Quality.

Q5 - Why is energy such a key element of your system?
A5 - Everything is made of energy.  When you start to explore the fundamental laws of creating wealth, everything comes back to requiring a basic understanding of the role of energy in our lives.  It doesn't matter if you are looking at physics and the laws of thermodynamics, metaphysics and the Law of Attraction or just plain old common sense and The Golden Rule ... energy is involved.

Q6 - OK...everyone wants to survive ... what's up with 'thriving' (besides rhyming with 'surviving')?
A6 - Thriving is the ultimate attitude that anyone can have towards life.  The definition of thriving is made up of two parts, flourish (as in personal growth and fulfillment) and prosper (live in abundance, including financially).  How can you not like that word and want to embrace it as a part of the way you look at life?

Q7 - What's this 'Wealth Potential' idea all about ?
A7 - It is a combination of things that are uniquely you and represent your ability to create value, the fundamental unit of exchange for you to get whatever type of wealth you might want.  The primary components of your Wealth Potential include: your mental wealth (beliefs, attitudes, intentions), values, competencies (knowledge, skills and talent) and passion.

Q8 - How do we get around to 'my purpose here on Earth'?  Is this one of those spacey New Age books?
A8 - There is a definite element of New Age thinking in the book (it's not spacey at all, however).  Your purpose is not something that is easily defined.  Nor have many people had the kind of epiphany or lightning bolt hit them that they then suddenly realize their calling.  I think that through understanding all the components of your Wealth Potential, you will get as close to uncovering your purpose as we are able to do on this Earth (you could of course get help if you are on the path).

Q9 - What does any of this have to do with entrepreneurship?
A9 - Entrepreneurs are very good at knowing a) their Wealth Potential and b) how it relates to markets and making money.  Up to a point in the book (Ch 9), all I really talk about is what is inside you .. help you get to know yourself better.  Then we get into how you transfer that ability you now have to add value into something that is commercially viable and can generate income.  The bridge to do that is entrepreneurship.

Q10 - How does all this create a 'system' and why should I take your advice?
A10 - I was a communications systems engineer for over 20 years (still do it on occasion actually).  I can safely say I am a systems expert. Systems are the best way to reliably produce the same outcome over and over again.  The Wealth Manifesto is essentially a system for creating the type of life you want, consistent with your values and with as much or little money as your require with the Quality of Life you deserve.  It's what I teach in my workshops and with my coaching clients.  Systems work.
